Mediterranean Grill is a great place for a quick,
cheap, but wholesome, lunch, dinner, or take-out. While the
cafeteria-style ambience leaves something to be desired, it’s
a more than fair trade-off for fantastic food at a great price.
A gyro or falafel sandwich costs only $3.95, but I highly recommend
the special, which comes with gyro slices, shish kabob, kufta
kabob, rice pilaf, pita, and salad. The entire meal will cost
you only $5.95 as the Business Lunch Combo (including drink)
or $7.95 as the Combination Feast after 3 p.m., which is still
a great deal, considering the quantity and variety of foods.
The falafel at Mediterranean Grill is the best Decatur has
to offer, quite possibly the best in Atlanta. And try some homemade
assorted pickles on the side. The beet-pickled turnips are especially
tasty, but then, I have a thing for roots. Speaking of tubers,
there are a number of other vegetarian items on the menu. The
only so-called “vegetable” you might expect to find but won’t
is French fries, and let me assure you that you won’t miss them!
The rice pilaf is yummy, as are the Greek potatoes. So, if you’re
in the mood for something that’s fast but not fast food, stop
in.
Mediterranean Grill offers traditional Greek entrees alongside
authentic and freshly prepared Middle Eastern food. In fact,
the restaurant has also become a local gathering place for Arab-
and Israeli-Americans and others who would like to bring peace
to the Middle East. As the restaurant’s owner notes, we all
like the same kind of food. I say "make pita pockets, not
war".
Catering available.
