Arcadia Gardens:
  Sun Sphere
This is a song by a guy from Mufreesboro, TN. It has a happy little keyboard melody over a skittering beat and some fuzzy guitarwork. Over this, he sings through a ton of echo. This is like the halfway point between Washed Out and Yalls. Not bad though. And he has a few records for free download on Bandcamp, although not this song, weirdly enough. Worth a listen, at least.

Campfires:

Fortune Teller
This band is a sort of lo-fi affair featuring a vocalist who really channels early Paul McCartney. It has a sort of early Beatles feel to it that most people will immediately either love or hate. I love it.

Coolrunnings:

Rusk
Coolrunnings is a Knoxville band who, on this song, really channel the spirit of early Sabbath. The guitars reverb like Iron Man. And then, the band comes in, voices harmonize lightly over it. A wired vocal choice given the heavy bass riffage, but the song really works.

Cultfever:

Knewyouwell
Keys swell, a guitar chimes along, and a sultry female voice whispers her lyrics... The voice is almost rapping, only there is a lilt to the fast pace at which she spits out the words. And all of this is wrapped up in a great shuffling beat. Good stuff.

Dudes:

Teenage Rebels
A reverbed and tremoloed guitar warbles over a scattered beat that grows and gets messy. More guitar is layered in, and the song kind of sways along. Eventually, an echoed faint voice comes in. The overall effect is Washed Out re-imagining early Beck. Not bad, really, and damned catchy.

Lonely Drifter Karen:

Comet
This song has a sort of lo-fi, new wave feel. There is a plinked guitar, some funky piano, and warbling synth bass. Vocalist Tanja Frinta sings nicely over this, her voice a light touch over the head-bopping music. Not bad, and rather fun.

Los Jardines
de Bruselas:

On The Moon (Together)
This is the one man band of Argentinean Ezequiel de la Parra. He makes some fascinating music: a nice steady drum hit, rolling bass, and a chiming guitar bit all over an organ drone. However, he also insists on singing in falsetto over this. When it works, the whole thing comes across as kind of like Prince, but then at other times the voice just seems to be a high pitched vocal while. Fortunately for de la Parra, it works for the most part.

You Came Out Of A Lady
This is silly and dancey, with a great swinging beat and lovely vocals by a woman who can really sing, backed with soaring horns and a deep bass riff. Amazingly fun.

Tropical Popsicle:
  Skulls in the Stars
First off, i love the name of this act. I was thinking they would be some kind of silly electro band. Instead, they are a vaguely gothish band with lots of synths and a driving bass line. In a way, this tune reminds me of The Chameleons. It has a similar sort of tone, which is totally incongruous with the band name.

Wojcik:
  Pick Me Clean
Wojcik is a Brooklyn based duo headed by Hailey Wojcik, a Michigander who sings and plays guitar and keyboards. This is a tune that her label sent us off of her debut record, and it really howls! She belts her lyrics while the guitars crunch and her drummer beats his kit. In a sense, this reminds me of an edgier, more distorted P J Harvey. Great stuff, and i hope to hear more from this artist.
