Hot on the heels of the recent and rather fine Circles EP comes Jealous Enemies, a single from Dark Captain Light Captain's forthcoming debut album, Miracle Kicker.

Like the title track of Circles, Jealous Enemies is melodically strong with a nice groove to it, and once again there are some rather tasty harmonies to round things off. It's probably fair to say that anyone who enjoyed that last EP is going to love this.

The other track here, Summer, is also well worth a listen. Like a couple of tracks on Circles, this is a more gentle acoustic number. When that delicious whispered voice that brings to mind Sun Rising-era Beloved sings "let's just see what the summer brings" over a mournful chord sequence, you can't help thinking that they knew all along it was going to be a wet one.

On the strength of this and Circles, I must admit I'm really looking forward to hearing the debut album and maybe catching them live, because they're undoubtedly one of my favourite discoveries of the year so far.
